lord of the rings return of the king no text

when playing LOTR return of the king from an .iso the text that should appear on pause menu and other menus is displayed as squares (no text at all).

i am running;
PCSX2 version 0.9.7.3876
GS: GSdx 3693, SSE41, 0.1.16
PAD: Lilypad svn (r3878) 0.10.0
SPU2: SPU2-X
CDVD: cdvdGigaherz
(others are default, null)

PC specs;
Core i7 1.6-2.8 GHz
4Gb ram
(i know its low to be using pcsx2)

So i want to know if this could be an issue with the iso, system settings or if it will simply never work properly.

Try using a software renderer (F9 while playing to switch between software/hardware).
