metal gear solid 3 ps4 controller not working

So, I boot the iso of metal gear solid 3. It brings me through all the company intro animations, then main menu but then when it says for me to press the start button, it doesn't start. Every other button works, it just doesn't want to proceed through the main menu. As is said in the title, I'm using a ps4 controller and also the lilypad dll . The even weirder thing is, I can skip the third intro animation, the dolby digital but not any other one. I'm at a loss for this, already posted on reddit, no replies, been trying to fix this for almost 2 days now. Any help at all is highly appreciated.
