--no gui option doesn't close PCSX2 when i exit

I'm trying to set up an arcade machine in my house just to see if i can and for fun. But i've run into a snag..

when i use the --nogui argument with PCSX2 i still get the console that pops up (i'm guessing from using the SVN?) but more importently when i exit the game (hitting escape) it doesn't actually exit, the process is still running in the background. Is there an option i a missing somewhere?
