request: Ripping PSF2 from soul reaver 2 with SPU during gameplay
#1
Information
1. Open PCSX v0.9.6
2. Run soul reaver 2
3. Load game (overland or fire forge)
4. Then if you hear any music. Record the sequenced music as PSF2
5. After you have finished PSF2 recording. You can play it in winamp

PSF2 is a sequenced music format with instruments samples in one file.
Highly Experimental is required for winamp when playing PSF2 files.
A PSF2 can be created with .BD + .HD + .SQ by using mkpsf2.

I know soul reaver 2 uses its own driver for music files. But while soul reaver 2 is running on pcsx2. that driver is translated into sony driver in realtime by pcsx2 SPU.

How about fast and easy PSF2 music ripping while playing the game?
The sequenced music is somewhere in the SPU ram.

If someone has working soul reaver 2 psf2 files like sarafan stronghold and overland.
Post the PSF2 files here in a zip or rar file. Thanks in advance. I appreciate your hard work

No, there is no plugin capable of recording this to psf2 files.

You can easily record the audio using the built in recorder (press F12). It's recorded in a wav file called recording.wav located in the same folder as pcsx2.exe

I don't mean recording to wave, mp3, ogg.
I mean recording to psf2.

Yes I know, but I don't see why you need PSF2....I guess we would need to implement an extractor for it and I doubt someone would bother with that

PSF and PSF2 are more than simple extractors.
They recognize the sound generation code on IOP somehow, dump that, emulate the IOP with this running.
Then these formats capture the sound commands and dma data transfers and recreate it all via emulation.
It's a whole new project.

I knew about the wavetable samples - just like a tracker format (f.e .xm), but you say it's including the synth and sfx code? pretty hefty. a midi variant would be easier to cap.
