savestate problem

I am using Windows 7 32-bit and r1888. I am playing FFXII but every time I save via a savestate it tries to save as a .exe file. And when I try to open the savestate it complains that is an incorrectly formatted savestate.

P.S.: I am not saving to a slot I am trying to save via the 'other' option.

Save using F1 to save, F2 to change slots, and F3 to load. Many people have problems saving using the UI, so it's better just to use the shortcuts.
