sims 2 pal issues

i was wondering if sims 2 pal has been fixed or if there is a workaround

as seen here it says it hangs on creat a sim
honestly i enjoyed learning english through sims 2 back in the day and really like playing the game not being able to read words and have to understand the pictures and animations on the body and faces
it feels much more adventurous and fun that way
or is there a way to remove the text from the game? right now its so easy it just feels like im doing a chore list, i enjoy just wandering around finding things that you can do in a video game by yourself.

how does one access this beta branch?

also how stable is it?

what do i do with this zip file? do i just unzip it over the 1.6 folder? make a new folder? is that all? also the portable.ini is blank if that matters any

make a new forlder and reconfigure from scratch.
then transfer your bios and memcards
