slower fps despite newer hardware

Indeed, I use the proprietary drivers, as Ubuntu makes them very easy to install vs other distros (went from Debian back to Ubuntu). Without them most games will crash instantly with X Window system error or some other problem. Open source driver still can't run the appropriate OpenGL that pcsx2 requires. In SW mode for GSdx most of the muscle is from the CPU anyway. For Linux HW mode, there is still a lot of work to be done so essentially it is unusable, for now. If we had HW mode most anything could probably be run full speed with semi-decent hardware. We Linux users just have to be patient...

My i3 runs this one like a champ (my Bulldozer AMD does pretty well for this game too.)

   


Armored Core 2 struggling quite a bit on the cutscene. Strangely, neither EE or VU speedhacks help a whole lot, only by about 10fps even at max.

   


Dragon Quest 8. The test game for this thread in the first place, as well as a few others. The GS% is really cranked out on this one. Extra SW threads don't help, as noted in my earlier posts on this thread.
