One of my disk drives crashed ( not OS drive) that had at least one install of PCSX2 - probably an older version. The remaining install of PCSX2 fails because it cannot find the user configuration file. After uninstalling all versions of PCSX2, a clean install ( 1.21 ? ) as Admin does not allow me to save the plug-in settings / failed to write to disk.
Is there a key in the Registry I need to delete to completely remove the software and start over ?

probably hlm\software\pcsx2 or same with hkcu
best would be to create a blank portable.ini file in your pcsx2 folder.

There is a folder in AppData(don't remember where exactly),that also keeps settings for the installer version
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\LocalLow\
It's in one of those
About registry, the only thing pcsx2 writes when you are using the installer is in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
but I have no idea what it does if you install another version while the pcsx2 key already exist

I tried the portable / binary install and that is probably what I will use from now on.
I found usermode.ini in C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\pcsx2 original date 2010 with references to version .9.7.
Thank you both.
