some advice

Hello well I just want some advice from you guys I'm planning on buying a new cpu but I'm still limited on my budget so I'm choosing between this two,

c2d e7500
phenom II x2 555 BE

I'm really looking for e8400 but it's not available here anymore.

so which of the 2 is faster I don't really have that much knowledge about pc.

Thanks in advance.

ps: and no overclocking cos I'm scared that I might blow it Laugh

If you don't want to overclock, no point in getting a black edition AMD which are the overclocking series (thus more expensive)

With PCSX2, it will probably be the E7500 being faster (or on par) with that Phenom

alternately get the i3 processor....good price,high-factory clock speed you don't need to worry about OCing

I have a Phenom II x2 555 overclocked to 3.8 GHz, and it is disappointing!

SSE 4 FTW !!! Biggrin

These are good cpus for PCSX2:
C2D e7500 @ 2.93GHz [LGA 775] $124
i3-550 @ 3.2 GHz [LGA 1156] $150
i5-760 @ 2.8 GHz [LGA 1156] $210
i7-930 @ 2.8 GHz [LGA 1366] $285

Since ya fear overclocking so much, go ahead and get the i3-550.
If you change your mind later on, that's ok, as it is a good overclocker.
My PCSX2 Rig:Windows XP x32 & Windows 7 x64.
i5 2500k @ 4.0 GHz.
nVIDIA GTX 460 1 GB.

Well... he was looking for a E8400 so i3-550 or i3-540 seems to be on the budget and would be faster too Tongue

I'm gonna assume he has to buy a LGA 775 mobo too (why would anyone own a Core 2 Duo and get another Core 2 Duo?). So, i3 + LGA 1156 mobo is an option. It only adds about $50-$80 at best to the cost. If not lower if he purchases i3 from Microcenter and get a cheap mobo from ASUS/Gigabyte.
CPU: i7 930 @ 2.8GHz(Everyday)/3.6GHz(Gaming)/4.0GHz(Encoding)
GPU: Geforce GTX 480 @ 850MHz/1001MHz
Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D-E
RAM: 2x3 6GB OCZ @ 1527MHz 8-8-8-24

oh I never notice i3 silly me lol.

Thanks I think I"ll go i3 one question tho does this support ddr2 memory or a lga 1156 mobo w/ ddr2 slot. I wouldn't mind buying new dd3 just want to recycle my 4gb ram heh.
