You don't have to change you'r PC, just use your PS2. Unless you really don't wanna play in the PS2 because of outdated graphics, there I could give you a point Tongue2.

I change my PC

Just for information.
I have:
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4800+ @3.0GHz
Video: GF9600GT video
2Gb of DDR2

With all speed-hacks-on, lower video config (GSdx10 with native resolution) i have sometimes framerate lower than 50 (i use FFX PAL version). If I downclock my CPU to 2.5GHz - speed is lower. So in my case i still heve a slow CPU for playing FFX at 100% speed (50FPS).

It's not entirely because of the speed. You have an AMD, they perform worst than Intel at PCSX2. Core2Duos are the way to go with PCSX2, 3.0 ghz being more than enough for FFX Tongue2.

Even my C2D 6550 2.33Ghz gets between 70-100 if is not limited, so probably even a 2Ghz C2D can run FFX at full speed.
C2D E6550 @ 2333 Mhz oc 3010 Mhz vcore 1.2750v | HD2600XT | P5KC | 1 + 1 GB G.Skill 6400HK 860 4.4.3.5

On some screen like Miā€™ihen Highroad, South End. ZeroGS is faster (60+ fps). Gsdx is slow (~30fps) seems to takes a lot more cpu (99%) resource but nicer graphics.

It is same for a lot of special effect screen like some boss fight or in FFX-2 fake yuna fight.

Well. my is 3.0GHz Core2Quad/HD3650. AMD should be slower due to no sse4.1

finished game without any major slowdowns (apart from few cutscenes) on solid 50 fps with gdsx dx10 version and with native internal reso
specs:
C2Q Q6600 @ 2.45 GHZ
4gb RAM
8800GT 512mb
Vista 64.
that rig is/was enough to run FF10 just fine. Atleast I played the game stable (I had vu-skip on tho, 'cause I needed something to limit my frames and the 0.9.4 framelimiter made the sound go all blargz.)

As for laptop playing, just don't...

P.E.O.S SPU2 is great for compatible but you will miss some sound in menu or battle if using it. I found that ZeroSPU or SPU2Ghz is better
