sudden FPS drop?

I recently started replaying Kingdom Hearts, and set up of the emulator was a little tricky, but I managed to find Kingdom Hearts sweet spot on my computer. I went to play the other day and my fps was fluctuating horribly from 18 - 65 frames per second. I also noticed my EE% was damn near 100% the entire time when using GSdx sse2. (Phenom ii :/) Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone before? I was also NOT using any speed hacks. Just a nicely configured GS plugin.

Here are my specs
AMD phenom ii X4 955 @ stock 3.2 ghz
4gb OCZ black
nvidia 470 @ stock
