I decided to move to 1.7.0 due to some other fixes and change the speedhacks from None(like it was in 1.6.0) to 02-Safe Default. I hope i wont get into problems.

Conclusion
These 2 changes caused a drop from 90 FPS unlocked to around 50 FPS unlocked in this scene

ok. not surprising since quite a lot of work has been made on VU accuracy.
So yes, it'll require more resources to run.

I would review these changes with the developers . Going in XENOSAGA EP 1 from 90 FPS(unlocked) to 52 FPS (unlocked) is not normal. 50% FPS loss on high end cpu is not acceptable to anyone sorry to say this .As developers i can imagine you are happy to get better accuracy but think about most of the people use ***** laptop CPUs. What performance hit will they have compared to my unlocked 4.7 Ghz Desktop CPU ? Think about your customers and better solutions

I would add this option who tanks performance in the speedhacks slider. When Speedhack slider is set to none this option shall be toggled . When Speedhacks is going to default this option shall be untoggled(this is the behaviour of 1.7.0). At least is transparent to the user which option can be performance intensive
Hmmm i see a new toggle in the 1.7.0 when going to default... maybe is already there like i suggested Laugh ? If so the only issue is if a user has better visuals in 1.6.0 on no hacks and he switches to 1.7.0 and has some visual bugs when he switches to default hacks.... now he wants to switch to no hacks like in 1.6.0 but he will have a massive performance drop ... Hmmm I have no idea how to solve , except if we assume 1.7.0 Default hacks is better than 1.6.0 no hacks in 99.99% of the cases

Vu Sync isn't an "option". It's required to improve accuracy/compatibility and avoid using hacks to make games work.
Basically, mtvu is a hack and tended to prevent games to boot. With this fix refraction brought,emulation tends to full accuracy, which is our final purpose.
Again, if you are fine with 1.6.0, then use it instead of trying to mess with Dev builds.

What about xenosaga's emulog ?
