Then you need to make sure that your laptop is running off the AMD gpu. I'm not sure how to force it that way on a Linux laptop.
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)
(I am no longer a Windows user)
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

And be sure to use either zzogl or GSdx as GS plugin (not GSnull)
