what does "GIFTAG warning, size exceeded VU memory size 400" means??
#1
I get this error: "GIFTAG warning, size exceeded VU memory size 400"

I am unable to play any game because the emulator "PS2 user interface" continuously tells me to insert a PS or PS2 game disc. I have tried my ISO with other versions of the emu and it runs (ultra Slow). I dont know what is wrong, I have tried changing the DVD/ISO plugin and nothing. Please help me Sad

My PC specs are:

Operating System = Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
Physical RAM = 4094 MB
CPU name = Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Vendor/Model = GenuineIntel (stepping 05)
CPU speed = 2.698 ghz (8 logical threads)
x86PType = Standard OEM
x86Flags = bfebfbff 0098e3bd
x86EFlags = 28100000
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 580

EDIT 1: Does anybody knows which plugin configuration is the best for my PC, because I have tried older versions of the emu but games run really slow; that is why I wanted to try this new version 0.9.8 . I have a PS3 but it doesn't have backwards compatibility that is why I want to use the emulator because the PS2 (which I also have) original display is really crappy lol.

EDIT 2: Also I would like to know how I would be able to run the games directly from a DVD instead of an ISO. I have more than 200 original PS2 games and I don't want to download all of them again.

Any help would be much appreciated Laugh

Not a bug report, moved.

GIFTAG warning, size exceeded VU memory size 400 <-- it's just a warning mostly for devs, don't worry about it.

Try making your ISO from the original disc with ImgBurn and run that one, do not mount it anywhere and just use the internal PCSX2 Iso Selector/loader to run it and preferably with the "Boot CDVD (fast)"option. It would help if you show us the console log for what problems you get.

You can play your games from the original disc selecting cdvdGigaherz as CDVD plugin and then selecting the "Plugin" option under the CDVD menu, however it is recommended to make ISOs from them as you may run into performance/lag/loading issues.

thx for the answer, I did what you told me about changing the DVD plugin, and yet the emulator tries to boot up the iso I did of my game SHINOBI, instead of playing MGS3: Subsistance that I put in my DVD drive Sad

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/8352/50236886.png

EDIT: I dont know why the image doesnt show Sad
EDIT 2: After some minutes, the emulator freezes Sad
EDIT 3: Also When I want to change the graphics plugin i get this: http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4838/42113811.png I know that I should not even try to change the graphics if I cant even run the game, but I was experimenting if somehow I could make it run properly lol....

sorry for so many edits; and thx for the help Smile

Have you tried enabling some speed hacks in your emulation settings (under "Config")?

eh
4GBs with a 920? theres 33% of your memory performance gone.

running at stock doesn't help either.
