That error stems from running the installer/emulator without administrative priviledge IIRC.

Install this and yes generally the betas are better but not always.

You didn't say what graphics card you have (unless I somehow missed it...?). If you have integrated graphics or a really weak/old graphics card, that could be your problem as well.

And why do you have PAE (Physical Address Extension) enabled? Especially since you only have 2GB RAM... (plus the fact that it doesn't actually address more memory in retail XP versions, only in Server versions).

Try going to microsoft.com and search "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)". Should be the first link.
