why does pcsx2 suck so much on linux?

The issue is not linux but opengl (and not the API). Less game => lower testing coverage => slower & buggy ! (=> less game?)
Thank you for the explanation gregory !
I hope that the steam move toward linux will benefit the pcsx2 linux development Smile

After reading these I can't imagine how OpenGL can be any slower compared to Direct3D. I really hope PCSX2 becomes as good as the Windows counter part in the future because I'd love to change to Linux for good Biggrin

Didn't those issues only happen with AMD users? For years now I've read people complaining how OpenGL performance under AMD is quite bad and will never be as good as Nvidia

I agree with you gl and dx must be in the same performance ballpark. Besides there is a direct 1:1 mapping on most ogl/dx functions. I don't understand why my gl implementation of gsdx is so slow!

I'm sure Nvidia/AMD's engineers work closely with big game company. They surely found and fixed tons of bugs even before the release of the game. User only saw latest bug on the pipe (due to AMD longer release cycle).

Can't find any help with that either? Sad

Yea... right... AMD haha Rolleyes

After they announced Mantle i'm pretty sure they don't give a crap about Linux drivers (or OpenGL) seeing how the proprietary drivers are 9x slower on 2D performance compared to the open source mesa drivers. Full focus should be on mesa in my opinion, after the horrible experiences I had with fglrx.

Have you read this?

9x is in (2D) window benchmark. I need 3D power and mesa is much more slower than fglrx. Mantle is very interesting and is very welcome for PCSX2. Driver cpu overhead is killer for an emulator. Anyway, I get an nvidia card recently so I won't add a mantle backend Wink

Yes I read dolphin status, I get mostly the same result here.

For now... kekeke :evillaugh:
Team Fortress 2 is starting to get really good framerates on my 3870 Biggrin and btw Isn't NVAPI the same as Mantle though?
