x64 version of PCSX2?

Forget 64 bit, 1024 bit is where it is at. 1.797693134862315907729305190789e+308 bytes of ram should be enough for anyone.

But do we get 256 GPRs with that, too? Tongue2

Is quad core support more visible?

We support quadcores just fine, we simply cannot make use of any more dedicated threads (cores) right now Wink

Pcsx2 supports dual, quad, hexa, octa, and even future CPU multicore CPUs... But it doesn't take advantage of anymore than 2 cores Wink

By "get", do you imply "get to use" cause...

there is advantage to using a quad core as this gets the GUI thread onto its own (the only point of that is the gui will hang less during intense load like running without frame lmiting Tongue2)

Yup. These days quadcore is a must. It should be a standard by now =) On my Q9550 I saw pcsx2 used up to 59% cpu usage! And that just the pcsx2 program alone.

I mean, the whole PCSX2 dev team repeatedly tells people that x64 will be SLOWER for PCSX2.
What knowledge can you bring to the table that all PCSX2 devs have obviously overlooked?

In all fairness, Dolphin runs almost twice as fast in x64. I suppose most people figure that PCSX2 should be able to do the same. Hell, even I figure it should do the same.

Does this mean... *gasp* x64 support is already there! Wink

There are no guarentees of speed boosts implementing 64bit.

There is only a few places i can think of where 64bit registers would be useful in PCSX2, currently SSE is more than ample for what we need.

I dont know if the Gamecube had more call for 64bit operations, but PS2 ones are generally either 128bit or 32bit, with a few 64bit ones thrown in, but they are less used.

While i don't doubt there would be a performance increase, for the amount of work involved, it wouldnt be worth it.
