z820 Video Card Question/Recommendation
#1
Morning everyone,

Ok, so I have a z820 at my disposal that currently has the AMD FirePro v3900 video card.  In looking at the quick specs for this model workstation, am I correct that it could support a PCIe3.0 graphics card?

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx....pdf?ver=4

HP says it has 1 x16 Gen 3 slot, so hoping Gen 3 = PCIE 3.0

Also, if that is correct, can someone recommend a good budget friendly graphics card upgrade to maintain 60 FPS for PS2 emulation?  I would love to get a 1080 TI but not in my budget.  I would like to stay under $250.

The 1050 will do surprisingly well for you. My 750 time oc handles most games at 60fps while using 3x or 4x resolutions. My Rx 570 does the same at 6x, but.. I'm using dx on my Rx because it's got a crap opengl implementation

The gtx will be significantly better than whatever shipped with that. If I'm reading that spec sheet right, you have 3x pcie 16x 3 slots.

I'd expect you to be able to run most any game at 3-4x with your vid card, as long as your processor is up to running it. Which processor do you have in there?
