Okay, i am running a 3.2ghz quad core processor with the ATI Radeon 4870 X2 (2gb)

I can play any game i have so far on max settings (fallout 3, nfs, etc)

i originally download pcsx2 so i could play dirge of cerberus, which i have given up on for now (like, 14 fps in the game itself)

anyways...so i got Final Fantasy 12....and that too runs horribly choppy. Only around 15-28 fps (well i haven't done much past the new game/continue screen, basically the opening video i have gone to and nothing beyond that)

now is pcsx2 currently just not able to handle the game very well, cause it shouldn't be a speed problem on my computer
What version of the emulator? And what plugins?

There is absolutely why that game should not be running most if not completely full speed on your system.
yeah, sounds like a configuration problem, ff12 runs fine @ 1920x1080 on my system without any speedhacks. do you run the game as an iso directly from your hdd or from its game disc? and please post your settings of pcsx2 and plugins, if possible as screenshots.
You could be a victim to the ATI bug. Try getting the latest beta and a GSdx version like r1398 or r1406 and see if those do any better.

Would also help if you show us your PCSX2 settings.

now i have tried other games like FF X and Disgaea and those have worked fine. I am running FF XII off of a disc, and no it isn't the disc drive.
I'm guessing XP since you are using DX10, correct?

And yeah, as ShadowLady said, get one of the GSDx revision she mentioned. There used to be an issue with ATI cards being significantly slower than they should be.

Fixed

I remembered FFXII running at least 50fps for me even with the old rev890 GSDX. BTW, why did you choose waveOut, instead of DirectSound (XP) or XAudio 2 (Vista & 7)? It clearly said "laggy".
You forgot to post your cpu/speedhacks/advanced settings. If you have a Intel processor choose the SSSE3 or SSE4 graphic plugin, if not intel leave it on SSE2, set your pixel shader to 3.0 and change SPU2-X config to directsound or XAudio2 preferably. I still suggest you upgrade your PCSX2 and use a different GSdx version thou.
Just don't download GSDX 1763. It has been known to go around and corrupting people's memory cards for the lulz. Crazy, right?

Haha, whoops. Thanks for that!
