First of all , yes I know there has been alot more topics with these question but I coundt find one with a similar spec to mine.
Just bought the following pieces:
Intel Core2Quad 2.5 GHz
Geforce 250 GTS Dark Knight 512 MB , 256 Bits, 740 / 2200
4 GB RAM Dual channel.
Planning on installing Win 7 X64.
Im mainly looking to play the Smackdown vs RAW series maybe some DBZ, Naruto.
Will I get it to a playable FPS?

Short answer: No, your CPU is too slow and all of the smackdown games seem to require really strong systems, as do most of the naruto games. Not sure on the DBZ ones since I don't own any and I can't recall what the general consensus is on it's complexity. That said, 2.5ghz is going to be slow for most 3d PS2 games without a serious overclock.
2500mhz quadcore means you have a 45nm Q8300. Is easy to overclock it to 3000mhz with standard Intel cooling.
You might try some games then again. 3500mhz speed is only needed for software mode. Many games run or in hardware mode aswell (not even 3000mhz is needed then) or with speedhacks.

Doesnt it matter at all that it has 4 cores? Would assigning core 1 and 2 to windows and core 3 and 4 exclusevly for PCSX improve performance?
No, 4 cores doesn't matter at all for pcsx2 since it only takes advantage of 2 threads. The only time it is useful to have more than that is for software rendering. The thing is, if your game is already running slow than software rendering will more likely than not be SLOWER.
Having a Quad core is only beneficial if you are using software mode with more than 2 threads. Simply put, PCSX2 is designed and optimized for a dual core system. And PCSX2 heavily relies on Clock speeds. Manually assigning cores to my knowledge does not improve performance.
Infact, it may even hinder it because the system automatically assigns threads to cores. You need a high clocked dual or quad core for best performance in PCSX2.
Hey Koji, just curious, but what Cooling System do you use for your Phenom?
I use a Freezer 7 Pro (rev1) for my C2D, and I'll be using a Thermalright Ultra-120 for my i5
Nice. Apparently, a friend of mine (Sammorris from the Afterdawn forums) told me that reaching around 4.6GHz with an i5 is easy on high-end air cooling.
Well, My i5 clocks at 3.8Ghz when it's using one core. I am sure I can shove more power out of it, but it runs so fast that I don't even need to. I'm shocked from my mainboard because it is actually a decent overclocker. I have a mild OC, but I am sure I can get more out of it if I need it in the future.
