My PC can play most 2d games just fine as far as FPS go, the problem is that it gets too hot, is there any way i can reduce the pressure it puts on my computer (even if it reduces FPS)?
If it isn't I'll just stop playing it on my PC and dust off my PS2 instead, but I figured I'd ask here first.

I have no speedhacks enabled if that matters.
You could always buy an aftermarket cooler... that would reduce heat (DUUHH! xD)
About the pcsx2 options, I don't know if any of them would reduce heat. But maybe lowering resolution and/or ticking native would help a bit and don't use any scaling (under D3D enhancements don't use 2x). The less stress you put on CPU/GPU the less heat it will cause right?
Seems like he is using a laptop.
Haha, Well, of course.
but I'd like to know if there is anything i can do emulator setting wise.
unlikely im afraid. Laptops stay cool because they go in to low power mode when they arent doing anything. When the emulator is running they are at 100% power constantly. Unless you want your speed to drop down in the game there's nothing you can do.

All i can suggest is put the laptop on a surface where it's well ventelated, not on your lap or anything. Laptops just arent made to take this kind of strain.
Sigh... figures.
Oh, well! it's not like i HAVE to play my games on the fly all the time.
Maybe I'll scrape up some cash to buy one of those cooling thingies....
The version we're working on currently is idling more whenever possible, it could be what you're looking for.
