Full Version: Yakuza 2 Crashing After Chapter 10 - HELP! (DVD9 Incompatibility Issue)

Hi Folks,

I have been playing through Yakuza 2 and have just finished Chapter 10, where you have to defeat Shindo in the Tojo building. After saving and continuing, I get a crash (a black screen with nothing happening) and can't do anything.

People have suggested that after Chapter 10, the disc (DVD-9) switches layers and I wonder if it is that is causing the problem.

This is the error that I get from the console:

CDVD READ ERROR, sector = 0xfffd0011

I've sunk like 20 odd hours into this game and would be saddened to see it go to waste; is there anybody out there who is able to help?

Many thanks in advance!
make an iso from your disc and open it ONLY from pcsx2 linuz iso without using any mounting programs.

Ah thanks for the feedback! I must confess though, I know nothing about creating ISO's from discs! What program do you recommend?

Ok, I just made the ISO and played it using the plugin you recommended and after I loaded up the save that took place after Chapter 10 I get the following error message within the window (not on the console):

Cannot open file OGREVO1

All my other saves before then open up fine however. I'm confused why the DVD-9 issue is seemingly being carried across into the ISO that I made.
Try ImgBurn. It's a very good tool.
The newest version has a toolbar bundled but it can be deselected during install.

Edit:
2 minutes too late.

Your new error message seems to happen when using backups on real PS2 hardware. I hope you have the original disc and your problem is emulation related.
Hi I have this trouble, i'm assuming this is where disk2 would normally come into play.

I bought the game second hand from cash converters, and iso'd the discs. The discs appear to be in good condition and the ISO's seemed to have passed a hash check.

I thought that I'd be able to skip the problem which is "Cannot open file OGREVO1" and instead just dump in disc 2, and start from there.

On the loading of disc2 I get

Code:
(UpdateVSyncRate) Mode Changed to NTSC.
(UpdateVSyncRate) FPS Limit Changed : 59.94 fps

This is from the ISO backup. I can't actually load the game from the DVD - my PC actually has no DVD burner/player. When i upgraded to the i5 sandy bridge, I just installed win7 using a USB stick. I back up my ISO's using a laptop.

Using pcsx2 0.9.8 r4600

Sorry to bump a super old post but I figure the precurser problem is actually the same so maybe someone already has had this trouble.
Ugh, just reimaged the disc, seems fine now...

Necro'd this ancient thread for no reason, gomen nasai...
i'am sorry if i reviving an old thread. I have this problems yesterday, after chapter 10 the game freeze. at console it does not shows any cdvd problems. the game freeze when kiryu and a young man see a man on a building to watch the young man's girlfriend video. when all of them look up, the game just freeze. the sound however, did not freeze.

How can i fix this? Please help me.
I've completed this in both PAL and NTSC and there's no issue. Go remake your iso. PAL came in a dual layered disc and NTSC came with two discs (or other way around?) and so what normally happens is the iso corrupts in creating data off the dual layer bit.

Just make a new iso and test. It'll take 25mins max and it'll discredit it if you can get it to work. If it's not working then check your disc for scratches. I had the same problem as OP in ISO so i just bought a second copy (for two reasons, im in australia, so NTSC version is rare, and also so i could get past the PAL dual layer issue iso I made).

But as far as emulation goes, the game plays flawlessly, i've completed it, though not 100%, there's so many longwinded sidequests.

edit: i've actually got the ending recorded somewhere too. i could send you that but it's like 2 gb because it's a long ending haha. fantastic game though, yakuza 1 and 2 are right up there for great game stories.
