Full Version: Video driver crashing with dx10 mode, black screen with dx9

Hi,
I've been trying to setup PCSX2 to play my ps2 games. However, it crashes my video driver as soon as I try to start anything (for example, I can't even do the step to format the memory card because I can't get to the bios), starting with null dvd drive = crash, starting with the dvd and starting with iso also crash, so the problem seems to be unrelated to the way I try to start something.
My video driver can usually recover, but I also had a bluescreen of death once.
Note1: It doesn't crash when I try directx9 hardware mode, but it doesn't work either, screen stays black.
Note2: When using DX9 mode, it actually "works", I can hear that everything does happen, like menu starting up with the same sounds like on my ps2, and when I press buttons I hear the sound for them, but the screen is pitch black. I can also start games from my dvd drive in my computer and hear the game's sound, but the screen stays black.

My relevant system specs are:
Vista 64 Bit Home Premium SP1
Core 2 Duo E8400 @3ghz
Radeon HD 4870 512 mb
4gb ram

Basically I set everything up like in the guide, but maybe I made an error?
PCSX2 config:
Version: 0.9.6

Graphic Plugin:
GSdx 2693 (MSVC 15.00, SSSE3) 0.1.16
1440*900 @ 60 hz
Direct3D10 Hardware ****SEE NOTES ON TOP
Interlacing: None
Aspect: 16:9
D3D Internal Res 1024*1024
Or use scaling: 1x
[X] texture filtering
[ ] allow 8 bit textures

Controller1:
LilyPad svn (r2591) 0.10.0

Cdvdrom:
CDVDnull Driver 0.6.0 (to try to get into bios to set up mem card)

Sound:
SPU2-X 1.1.0

Everything else are the original null drivers.

Bios: Europe v02.00(14/06/2004) Console

Hope someone can help me, tell me if some information is missing.

Greetings
Saldu

Monkey1432 here,

have you tried running it in DX9 Hardware SSE2 Mode? If you can try it.

This is not a good sign(the recover). You might have some problems with your hardwares or driver because video driver don't usually do that.

Also, I think it is a good time to move on to use 0.9.7 beta although it may not solve your problems, but it is definitly a better version in many ways.
Dont forget to upgrade latest directx (june 2010) too. Just see download link in hardware forum via thread

Hey, tried that just now, and I get into bios with picture & sound! Will see if everything else is working.

Edit: Also, in those guides was the mention of an dvd plugin which could rip an iso from my ps2 dvds all included in the plugin, where can I find that? (the plugin, of course)
You should make your ISOs with an app like ImgBurn instead, there's been cases where ISOs created with anything else don't work so great.
