PCSX2 can use one more thread with the MTVU hack on the newer builds, which splits VU1 on its' own thread.
0.98 (well.. quite earlier than that, actually) already supports 2 cores. Latest nightly builds support 3 cores via the MTVU speed hack, which is considered relatively stable. You can get it via the development nightly builds page at: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/
I'm not sure if this is supported or not but which GSDX is better to use? SSE4.1 or AVX? I have a 2630qm which has both instruction sets.
test both and find which one one give you more Speed = FPS

if your cpu supports it then its AVX.
I think AVX is only useful for software renderers in GSdx, I could be wrong tho.
Currently, you're probably right Shadows Lady
Indeed AVX only improves software currently, this is what gabest said when he posted it

Quote:AVX does not do much yet, about +1 fps in sw mode. First xbyak has to be updated for VEX, then I need to re-write the rasterizer to use 3-op instructions. The ymm regs could be useful for extra storage in the upper part but that's all, no integer instructions available in AVX 1.0.

Tested latest build with 3 cores support and noticed an huge speed-up in Valkyrie Profile 2! It was unplayable (i7 860) even at native resolution with all speed hacks activated and now it works like a charm at 1080P with just the MTVU sh! Plus no even need to use the tri-ace booting hack to run it
Good work thank you guys :-)
Is not easy, thank you
