I have just finished learning C++ basics and I want to mess with pcsx2 source code Tongue you know, boredom in summer vacation Tongue2 .

I'm not a PCSX2 developer. But joining a project could take a couple of month. Perhaps you'll spend all your vacation just for understanding the current progress. Anyway, good luck.
