We could always raise awareness of PCSX2 + widescreen patches, but most people aren't overly concerned.
The truth is, a lot of people don't care about black bars, or stretched graphics, and that's kind of sad.
My dad (in his 50s) for example watches VHS tapes on a 4:3 20" 480i CRT from like, the year 2000.
Some people just don't care, as long as they get a working image. That's because a lot of people were raised on that. (I was born in the mid '90s, by the way)
Now it's all BLU RAY. 1080p. HD! WIDESCREEN! 4k TVs are slowly going to become the new standard eventually.
Anyway, the widescreen patches will catch on with time.
In a few years from now, no one is going to want to plug in their PS2, deal with wired controllers, physical memory cards, etc.
We're still kind of in a "transitioning" phase, and that's understandable considering how it's the early 21st century. I dub it the "digital movement".
Consider that humans have been evolving from millions of years, and think of all that change that has happened in the last 30 years.
YouTube was only invented 8 years ago. It's such a small fraction of time, yet so much has happened technology-wise.
I was thinking about getting some exposure on Widescreen Gaming Forum.

Until then, we have our nice little forum and archive here.
It's one of the reasons I made the archive. If no one tries to change anything or take action, progress is slower.

By a landslide, I might add.
I wonder if 16:9 will be the aspect ratio standard for the rest of time because right now, it kind of is. Well, for video games, at least (movies are a little wider).
