It's like someone making an article on Wikipedia and then trying to claim they "own" it and its "theirs". It's just not the right way to think about it. Let's be honest. At the end of the day, no one gives a darn about who made the patches, all they care about is that their game is in widescreen. So let's all work and communicate here to reach that goal.
From now on, I will attach people's names to requests. For example, if pelvicthrustman wants to work on Harvest Moon, I will post your name next to it in the Requests section. This will help prevent the possibility of two people working on the same patch and wasting time. This doesn't mean that another person isn't allowed to work on Harvest Moon, but just lets people know the ins-and-outs of what's going on.
I'm also creating a new "Projects" section where we all have goals to work on. I'll post things that need to be done there.
I agree, everyone owns them - but again its a pride thing, which developers often get in pointless fights over lol - it's just a natural consequence of putting time and love into something.
I think a running list of who's working on what is great!
I'm currently looking at these, with some progress made:
Speed Racer - zoom found
Mark of Kri - vert fov found (causes garbage when reduced)
Ico (PAL) - zoom found, vert fov found (causes garbage when reduced)
I love the Projects section idea! I had already planned to produce a guide in the near future now that I've gotten a handle on several hacking techniques using Elf Search Tool and PS2DIS. You can put me as working on it if you like - I'll make it a thread over at psx-scene since i'm a moderator in the widescreen hacks forum there - that way the thread can be separate and act as a way for people to discuss development. I intend to try and show some fairly n00b-ready methods for hacking but TBH many of the hacking subjects I could discuss require working knowledge of technical subjects - so there will also be a (probably much longer) "Advanced" section for how to work with stuff if you know what you're doing. Hopefully that will preserve/pass forward some of the knowledge to reduce future rework and motivate those with experience to chime in with suggestions to improve it.
