I added the "True (but unreliable)" patches mostly for people to try out (if they wish).

Have you tried using pelvicthrustman's Patch Converter & ELF Search Application? There's a link for it in the OP. Its very handy.

To have clone-patches seems to be optional: they aren't needed,
however I guess it increases the probability for stability with the hacks.

Ahhh i see. You are talking about finding the clones in ps2dis? There are two ways to proof the code is only stored once in the elf :

1. Hex-edit the elf. Search for a unique pattern and you will see it will only be found once.

2. Load the elf file in ps2dis. Jump to address "00100000". Press ctrl-f and search for 01 (as hex string). Now press Shift-F5 and you should jump (backwards) to the end of the elf (or almost to the end, press 1-2 times page down). You should end up in address range 00xxxxxx and not 80xxxxxx or a0xxxxxx.

Here is a snap of PS2 Mapped Registers Layout. Maybe one of the devs can explain what's it all about.

Code:
Operating Modes        Logical Address Range    Physical Address Range    Size
---------------        ---------------------    ----------------------    ----
USEG                   0x00000000-0x01FFFFFF    0x00000000-0x01FFFFFF    32 MB
KSEG0                  0x80000000-0x81FFFFFF    0x00000000-0x01FFFFFF    32 MB
KSEG1                  0xA0000000-0xA1FFFFFF    0x00000000-0x01FFFFFF    32 MB

I can take a look at the elf and provide the ver fov addresses if you want to.

(11-04-2013, 11:21 PM)pgert Wrote: [ -> ]Added "Fast boot recommended" in comment for the SC1-4 "True (but unreliable)" alternatives
(although SC1 is OK regardless of language settings, and SC2-4 is OK with English, on full boot).
For the record: games with a language selection of their own (like "Project Zero 3" & "Slinter Cell 1")
are less likely to have a problem with 2xxxxxxx addresses, non-english settings and full boot.

As long as multi language games use only one elf file this issue can be solved easily by using elf addresses for patches. People want to play their games in native language. Using fast boot is not a guarantee you will end up with english language (e.g. when using fast boot PAL Project Snowblind's default language is french Blink).
Widescreen patches for PAL multi language games should work with any language which is supported by the game itself - this is imho a standard every ws author should maintain.

So, I'm not very good at this, been trying to widescreen Mercenaries and Battlestar Galactica, but all I can manage to do is zoom the entire screen out, and not find the individual hori and vert values.
So I'll leave my results here to help in case someone else wants a go.

Mercenaries: playground of destruction PAL SLES_525.88
Address 2055AC2C, 2055AC30: values 0000803f , moves hud
Address 208D2160, 208D2174, 208D2188: values 0000803f , moves and zooms the camera position, strangely, if you fill all the blanks around these address with 0000803f you can get different camera and zoom positions.

Battlestar Galactica PAL SLES_517.02
Address 20251D5C: value 0000803f , zooms the entire screen out, both vert and hori

Edit : Patch removed. Game has already native widescreen support (use full boot).
