Thanks for the quick reply! Interesting that the values are also stored outside the game executable... I never thought about that.
Does this mean a patch with cheat codes is impossible? Or could there be a way to change the values when they are read, similar to changing the value in the 3xxx memory with the Widescreen Helper?
Well, even if no standalone PNACH is possible it's not too bad, since PS2 users get R&C in 16:9 now as well and PCSX2 users have the choice to modify the ISO or use WS Helper.
Best regards

Unfortunately the widescreen code reduces a couple of 2d textures like the binoculars overlay. I haven't found a solution yet.

I'm very pleased to hear that

This game would really benefit from being widescreen. Decide for yourself.

I remember seeing your last post about it awhile back. Saw YouTube videos of it, loved it
, then realized I had the OPM #79 demo disc (SCUS_973.32) of it lying around somewhere. Really gives me NiGHTs vibes - even the first level's music feels in line with that game.
Anyway, back then I tried widescreen hacking the demo... but didn't have any luck
.
Notes (in case it helps anyone else that tries to look into it):- This game uses sceVu0ViewScreenMatrix, but hacking it produces a very poor result. Doesn't increase the horizontal FOV. It does introduce serious geometry rendering and object misalignment issues, though... .
- Couldn't find anything in Cheat Engine live memory searches that properly increased the game's FOV, but I did stumble upon address 20356CEC - which kind of messes with the horizontal FOV.
Screenshot descriptions:
- Normal FOV
- sceVu0ViewScreenMatrix hack
- Address 20356CEC (511 float) changed to 383.25 (i.e. 511 * .75)
- Address 20356CEC (511 float) changed to 681.3333333333332 (i.e. 511 * 1.333333333333333)

I'd do it but I'm without a desktop for now. I can try later.
Thanks No. 47!
And I'd port ElHecht's PAL Winback patches to NTSC-U, but I can't ATM.

I personally like it this way! Since the other possibility would be to stretch the 4:3 overlays to 16:9, which doesn't look good at all, I prefer them centered with correct aspect ratio. Even if it shows that the game hasn't been made for widescreen...

Also I would like to request a ws hack for
Unreal Tournament
Besides failing to find a memory patch I changed the FOV setting in the config files (bNoCheating=False and bAllowFOV=True in PSX2GAME.INI, then DesiredFOV=99.000000 and DefaultFOV=99.000000 in PSX2USER.INI), but unfortunately the game doesn't seem to respect these settings.
This game uses the Unreal Engine 1 as well as
Deus Ex and
Rune: Viking Warlord which haven't been patched yet, so if someone finds a hack for UT it should be easy to patch the other two games as well.
On the PC, after adjusting the FOV by changing the above config settings or using console commands, apparently the aspect ratio is set by choosing the resolution. Just for testing purposes I tried changing FullscreenViewportX=640, FullscreenViewportY=448 in PSX2GAME.INI as well, but it doesn't work either...
EDIT: 803f 013C 0000 in the ISO might be the value to patch... UE2 games are using 3f80 as well. Going to look into it when I've time again.
EDIT 2: I give up, I don't get anywhere - found something that affects the FOV (search for 2118 7000 803F 013C 0000 8144 2128 in SLUS_200.34), but it also messes up the graphics...
Hello, I am new uh, I can not find a patch for Kingdom Hearts PAL-I SCES_509.70 (Crc: F239088D). There is only one for PAL and PAL-G (by ElHecht) and PAL-F (ported version of PAL-G). Someone would know to create a port for the Italian version of the game?
sorry for my bad english!
Ported to Maken Shao to PAL, but couldn't port the gsdx fixes.
As for Italian KH1, try renaming the German or French one's CRC to F239088D and it might work.
