The 590 GTX IS 2 580's stuck together but I can't remember if it was designed in a way that the computer recognises their combined power as a single GPU or if it is SLI/Crossfire.

It has nothing to do with SLI obviously.
I dont have a SLI system and I'm having the same troubles as OP had.
It's still having problems with the latest revision
I'm using an ISO of the game AIRBLADE.
Using the latest SVN release 5313
AND I tried the stable 0.9.8
If it makes any difference I'm using a SOLID STATE DRIVE.
Corsair Nova 30 GB. as my main boot drive.
