PS: Isn't this merged to pcsx2 yet ?
pseudonym on IRC said this was "a ***** patch" "which will in fact completely disable rendering altogether for many games". And that no way this could ever be included.

Nevertheless, I would love an SSE2 version to finally play ace combat games in HD without those damn vertical stripes
did he give an explanation for the reason on why this will completely disable rendering ? by altogether, what exact functions do you mean ?
(02-14-2015, 08:58 PM)MyDreamName Wrote: [ -> ]Well, alternatively, if the demo disk ISN'T legal to distribute, and the actual disk is needed to do testing in software mode (the gs plays in hardware rendering, I don't know if there's a parameter to replay it in software rendering), the first demo disk isn't that uncommon, and usually goes for ~$4 if anyone bids on these at all (and that's how I got mine).

There is currently an auction for one on Yahoo JP that I can link to if anyone would be interested in picking up a copy for testing, although additional fees will cost you around ~15-20 dollars extra if you order from the US via proxy.

Thanks for the hint, I managed to track one down Smile

16:18:39 - mirh: so... nobody gave a look to racer_s's gsdx fix?
16:18:39 - mirh: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-GSdx?page=469#pid424524
16:53:43 - gregory38: hum it will likely cause bug on some games
17:10:44 - mirh: it does actually solve some bugs in others though
17:12:39 - mirh: and anyway, if you look at the code, there's an if conditional... that I believe is there to avoid the games you mention
18:25:44 - pseudonym: Ummmmmmmmmm. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
18:25:55 - pseudonym: Isn't he basically just forcing everything to native res with that patch?
18:27:35 - pseudonym: Removing hd rendering would indeed fix hd rendering bugs Tongue
18:27:39 - pseudonym: "fix" Tongue
18:38:43 - mirh: afaik that *fixes* hd rendering
18:38:58 - pseudonym: From his description, it disables it Tongue
18:39:06 - pseudonym: He just doesn't realise that's what he's doing Tongue
18:39:16 - mirh: wait wait
18:39:32 - pseudonym: You didn't link the post with the actual patch
18:39:41 - mirh: check a page behind
18:39:55 - mirh: native resolution rendering is just fine
18:40:51 - mirh: this instead makes possible proper rendering for HD resolutions
18:41:05 - mirh: you get odd vertical lines otherwise
18:41:05 - pseudonym: ...not seeing a patch -_-
18:41:11 - pseudonym: Seeing a dll and a ***** full source tree
18:41:17 - pseudonym: I'm not going to generate a patch myself.
18:41:35 - mirh: http://forums.pcsx2.net/attachment.php?aid=53619
18:42:12 - mirh: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-GSdx?pid=...#pid428109 and here it's transcribed
18:43:04 - mirh: [though I'm noob and I can't get a working plugin from it]
18:43:53 - pseudonym: ....that is a massive hack which will in fact completely disable rendering altogether for many games
18:45:23 - pseudonym: That's not fit for inclusion. It's not even a good game hack.
18:46:02 - mirh: so... any other idea for those pesky vertical lines?
18:47:05 - pseudonym: I don't care. Use native res.
18:47:33 - pseudonym: I can probably tell you what's happening though
18:47:49 - pseudonym: It's most efficient on the GS to do large renders in vertical strips
18:47:59 - pseudonym: To avoid crossing memory boundaries
18:48:51 - pseudonym: So the game's final rendering stage in this case is scaling its internal buffer to the display resolution by flat textured quads across the whole screen
18:49:59 - pseudonym: Rounding on these strips is creating gaps, likely the original geometry doesn't have the edges meeting up, just well enough that they get rounded correctly on the GS
18:51:01 - pseudonym: If you really wanted to hack it, replacing the geometry with a single quad would be the way
18:59:20 - mirh: would I have better to post a remainder on the forums or open an issue on github..?
18:59:41 - pseudonym: It's a ***** patch.
18:59:54 - pseudonym: How can I express this in a way that you understand?
19:00:24 - pseudonym: It literally disables rendering if the framebuffer is located at the start of GS memory
19:01:17 - pseudonym: (There are absolutely no restrictions on where you place your internal and display framebuffers in GS memory)
19:03:16 - gregory38: technically it replaces with a SR (but that not better)
19:03:19 - gregory38: I need to go
19:09:18 - mirh: i had high hopes after I saw the results..
19:09:20 - mirh: but I guess I'll have to put heart at rest
22:32:53 - cotton
23:35:53 - MrKB: pseudonym: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-GSdx?pid=...#pid424436 <-- that doesn't look like native res to me
23:38:20 - pseudonym: MrKB: I revised my opinion after I actually read the code
23:38:37 - pseudonym: What I initially said was based on a post about the patch, since I couldn't see the patch itself
23:38:47 - pseudonym: It's still bad, but differently
23:38:49 - MrKB: Oh gotcha
00:46:25 - mirh: glimmer of hope?
00:47:35 - pseudonym: No, after you found the patch for me everything I said stands
00:47:50 - pseudonym: It's bad code with a bad intent
00:49:04 - mirh: fixing hd resolutions is inherently bad?
...
Who is pseudonym?

He's one of the PCSX2 devs. Pretty good one from what I've seen.
Thank you. Smile
@Mirh
ahh, I understand Smile , Racer_s should have done it the proper way by replacing the geometry with a single quad. but, I don't get how it disables the rendering if, it's placed on the start of GS memory
Just trying...does anybody know why is GSdx in ZoE2 rendering on screen transparent objects that are hidden by walls? The issue appears only in hardware mode, but my life will change a bit in better if that's going to be fix'd.
