I loaded save 8 from the memory card and ran around a bit. I got into a fight with those heat balance monsters without issue.
Maybe it's a plugin bug? Are you using one of the svn builds?
It works fine with the 1.0 release and the latest SVN build.
Make sure not to touch the recompiler settings btw. The Persona engine doesn't like different round / clamp modes.
