It seems that no matter what I play, my FPS goes from reasonably playable (55 - 60) down to about 30 for a few mins and then straight back up again. This has happened in multiple games and even occurs when in menu screens or during FMVs, so I don;t think it's a performance issue, even though my system is kinda *****.

First off, some specs:

AMD Phenom tri-core 2.4ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon 4850

I'm running PCSX2 and GSDX10 pretty much in 'safe mode' with all speedhacks disabled, all EE/VU settings to default and native internal resolution. Apart from that, other relevant stuff is below:

Rendering - D3D10
Interlacing - Auto
Texture filtering - on (have tried off)
Allow 8bit textures - on
Framelimiting - on (I even set the default 'slow motion adjust' to 100% just in case)

I've tried loading up a nice easy game (Resident Evil - Code Veronica X) and messing with the settings until it works but I've pretty much exhausted all options. I've also tried disabling one of the cores in affinity settings so now I have it running on 2 cores only but still no luck. I'd disable another core but I'm struggling some run a lot of games as it is with such a ***** system and losing another core would cause issues even at 100% speed.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? If so, how do I fix it?

Thanks.
tried disabling amd cool n' quiet ?
Awesome, thanks a lot bro.

Not only does it seem to have fixed the issue but I'm getting a performance boost at 100% speed also. I had no idea my bios was throttling performance to make my system less noisy. Smile
