I'm using an HP pavilion dv6 laptop and I switched to Mint and it's still showing up generic Xbox controller.

You probably use a different brand of 360 controller than me. If its behaving the same way then there is probably nothing you can do. Seriously, the usb for ps2 adapter is awesome and I use it on Linux and Windows 7 PCSX2 version. It works perfectly on both OSes. This is especially important in my Armored Core games which make use of all buttons in rapid succession.
