Can you confirm me that you've used the plugin zzogl?
As DaTankAc said, GSdx will require at least a sandy bridge class GPU (and a working driver => 2014)
deathyr, can you check GSdx in SW mode? HW mode is expected to crash with FGLRX but SW mode must work.

what warnings do you get on the emulog when it freezes? what terminal warnings do you get also?

You have 2 different threads for the same issue. Your graphics unit is just too old and is not going to work. Your cpu is too weak for Linux version to be enjoyable also.

Let's debug a bit zzogl first. Go to the plugin configuration and enable logging. Relaunch and then send me the content of ~/.config/pcsx2/logs/GSzzogl.log

Need what is in the file during the crash. So make it crash first then post any log, perhaps in a txt file.
