Full Version: Dragon Quest 8 choppy sound/fps advice

Hey, I'm trying to get Dragon Quest 8 to run properly on my config, and I'm having some trouble. Main problem is that the sound is very choppy in most places that isn't a menu, and another problem (related, I'm sure) is that my fps sits around 35-40 most of the time.

Plugins:
DSdx 5334 0.1.16, Direct3D10 (Hardware), 8 bit off, 2x native
LilyPad 0.11.0
SPU2-X 2.0.0, all default

Computer specs, not entirely sure what's relevant:
GeForce 540M
Intel i7-2630QM
8GB RAM
SSD

anything in options I should change, anything in the plugins? Is it just my hardware (I have a laptop, which I know taxes performance, but it's pretty high end especially since I found old threads from >09 where people ran it perfectly fine)?

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help. Cheers!
DQ8 is pretty intensive, especially on graphics cards. You can try turning the graphics onto native, but even then I doubt the 540M will get you full speed.
I get slowdowns on my system at even 3x native. Its crazy.

I5 3570 4.5ghz
2GB 6950
8GB DDR3 1.6ghz
I have a 6970 overclocked (sort of Tongue2 ) and I cant get full speed at 3x in all areas either.
