it's possible the savestate you're loading has been corrupted.
that's why I advised you to load from your last memcard save

Ah I see. But because the scene of the crash is early into the game, I've tried numerous times to just restart the game from the beginning, but it still crashes in the same area as experienced in the aforementioned thread.
are you using default pcsx2 settings or did you change some ?
I changed some based on recommended beginner guides:

EE/IOP
EmotionEngine: Recompiler
EE/FPU Advanced Recompiler Options: Chop/Zero
IOP: Recompiler
Clamping Mode: None

VUs
VU0: microVU Recompiler
VU0/VU1 Advanced Recompiler Options: Chop/Zero
VU1: microVU Recompiler
Clamping Mode: None

GS:
Framelimiter: Unticked (Disable Framelimiting)
Base Framate Adjust: 100%
Slow Motion Adjust: 50%
Turbo ADjust: 200%
Use Synchronized MTGS: Unticked
Disable all GS output: Unticked
Frame skipping: Disabled

GS Window
All the same

Speedhacks
Enable speedhacks: ticked
EE Cyclerate: 3
VU Cycle Stealing: 2
Enable INTC Spin Detection: Ticked
Enable Wawit Loop Detection: Ticked
Enable Fast CDVD: Unticked
mVU Flag Hack: Ticked
MTVU: Ticked

Game Fixes
Enable manual game fixes: Unticked

Also I haven't changed any of the plugins or GS plugin settings.

I wonder which kind of crappy guide you followed when I see that...
Hm I remember 2-3 guides that said that, but nontheless like I said I tried with speedhacks on and off so that shouldn't be the problem anyway.
good things to try all at the same time :
- load from memcard
- disable speedhacks
- use software mode
I have also tried to use software mode.

Actually I just had an idea, it might be the ISO that's causing the game to crash. I'll get back to you with the results, but thanks for your help thus far.
possible.
how did you rip your game ?
tried using imgburn ?
Reset everything to default. You've set all clamping to none which are known to cause crashes and crap.
