A dualcore would be best for emulation. (with high cpu speed ~3.6+ghz!) Just buy a C2D and your results shot up.
For oc'ing please look for a good cooling device.

I'm sorry for taking this thread but I gotta ask, How come 0.9.5, even when it's outdated as you guys say, performs better than the latest SS beta? I'm playing Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. With 0.9.5, staying most of the time at fullspeed (60 fps). With SS beta, 90-95% speed and sometimes even 70-80%. Maybe it's something in the advanced or speed hack options?
New version are not all about speed, but also about compatibility. Many games that did not run before or had game breaking bugs are fixed now. And that is way more important than 20% speed loss in some games.
@cob2276 : The Better is 2 meant, first for compatibelity with games, this is most important. Second for increase speed, this is less important. Pcsx2 beta now most better than old 0.95. There are many option and setting to try for better working in games and option vu skip is better than old 0.95.
