Full Version: Visual C++ redistributable installer stuck on initializing

I've been trying to install the emulator for the last couple of hours, but I keep running into a problem with the Visual C++ redistributable portion of it. The C++ installer opens up fine, but gets stuck on "Initializing..." and does not move on any further from that. Pretty sure the problem isn't directly related to the emulator's install package or anything, as I tried downloading the package directly from Microsoft only to get the same result and I've ran into problems similar to this in the past with other programs. After 2 hours of googling, I've yet to find a remedy, so I figured I'd risk sounding like a newbie and ask here.

Any ideas? I've run the Windows Installer FixIt from Microsoft, but that didn't help. Should I uninstall all previous C++ redistributables and try again? I've been holding off on that one because I don't want to screw up any other emulators/games on my machine that may require them.

I'm on Windows 8.1 Pro btw.

I've also tried that one already.. same situation, it gets stuck on "preparing to install" but eventually gives an error saying that the install server is not responding.

Visual C++ Redist Installer V31.exe ( note this uninstalls ALL VC on the pc then install all VC from 2004? to present) best used on fresh reboot of os too

All in one VC++ it install all of them saves the trouble of geting them all manual and it usual has updated regularly too. Been using it for years and recommanding to on here for while

If it dont work either then something get messed up some where on your pc maybe

Thanks, that sounds like my best shot... getting late, so I'll try it first thing tomorrow.

Appreciate the help!
