It can, depends on the game.
Forcing progressive will work even better(ps2force480p works with many 2d games)

It's a patch that applies to the ISO. Many of my games are patched as such, and it works fine on original hardware as well as PCSX2.
It doesn't work with all games though.

I tried this on breath of fire dragon quarter and only the capcom logo showed then blank screen tried on FFX and broke the screen and FFXII failed to patch i try more later would be nice if the readme actual gave some info on how it works
