Align sprite hack is (at least i think) a three state combobox. Make sure you check all states. You can also try haf pixel offset or tc offset hacks. Maybe they will help.
Can you maybe post the full emulog after the sw renderer crash on boot?
Issue #2 is unfixable currently, only native or software mode will work. Issue #1 should be mitigated by the switch to SW mode when FMV plays, you getting a crash there is weird. I could check I guess
