That's self-serving logic. It's like saying, "I won't do this because I don't want to do this."
older GSdx versions provided exclusive fullscreen that slightly improved image quality and speed, but that was like.. GSdx9 time before they went to DX10 or 11.
Multiplied resolutions like 2x,3x,4x native are more compatible anyway but slightly reduce image quality due to scaling.
Best results you can have are using your displays native resolution and 4X MSAA but beware that it can mess up things like shadows etc..
