I just downloaded 1.4.0 today and it said i need C++ 2015, so i was like no problem, but for some reason it keeps failing to install (both x86 and x64, and im using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit btw) everytime i install i get this error code: 0x80240017- unspecified error, along with lines of text in the error log that say stuff about the MSU Package
[1170:0398][2016-01-13T15:41:52]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to execute MSU package.
[0EE0:1494][2016-01-13T15:41:52]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to configure per-machine MSU package.
[0EE0:1494][2016-01-13T15:41:52]i319: Applied execute package: Windows7_MSU_x64, result: 0x80240017, restart: None
[0EE0:1494][2016-01-13T15:41:52]e000: Error 0x80240017: Failed to execute MSU package.
so can someone tell me what i need to do for it to install successfully, and i did update windows 7 just today using windows updater and i have C++ 2013 successfully installed
see link in my sig for all in one installer
I was having the same problem but after updating the windows everything worked fine.
So I suggest installing the latest updates and then trying to install the C++
i also noticed installing this stuff does not really work till after .net frame work was installed, atlest none of Ngen compliling worked right till after .net frame stuff was installed first
bbruceify: You were trying to install the wrong one, you need the x86 version not the x64 one which you have there.

yes the redist installer is what you want, it install all the VC 32/64bit needed by the end user and creater update it regularly

.net is "needed" it just if you run ngen commands after updating VC they wont compile correctly with out it .net

nor should .net be blocked. if you using win10 it might be getting block if you edited some system setting. if you let win10 auto install it doing it as "app" install which hit or miss. i had issue trying to install .net that way, dont remeber how i fixed it though .net was install as "app" on my end there for it not listed in programs and features. which if it was installed and not listed there it was done threw windows "apps"
to hell with it im just gonna do something else
