So, I'm trying to run sims 2 castaway but I have a series of issues. In game on software mode, icons for objects and context menus do not appear, a thread on here said to press F9 to fix the issue, which switched it to hardware mode and it did indeed fix the issue. However every so often I will get crippling lag on this mode, which the same thread mentions can be fixed by switching to directx10 mode on GSX. However, not only is this not an option (Only dsx9 and 11 are available and neither work, on software or hardware), switching to 11 doesn't fix the lag issue either. I've tried running the dirextxredist thing as well but it still persists. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.
In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
- Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
- The version of PCSX2 you are using.
- Any non default settings you are using.
- What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

It's the other way around actually. The only Hardware mode that works properly for this game is OpenGL.
But for AMD GPUs it will cause major slowdowns in this game.
Your best bet is to just use Software mode. Make sure you're up to date with your PCSX2 version.
