Tested with the latest git (2284) and 2242

Regardless of Hardware/Software, DirectX/OpenGL, and on planet Daxx only (from what I've encountered so far):

Game will freeze if lots of projectiles are exploding on screen at once. Can be recovered by loading state, but of course it will happen too frequently for this to be a long-term solution. You can avoid the freeze by looking away from explosions like a cool guy.

Not sure if it is gdsx related but including dump anyway: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PrTmXh...o84vN16MK6

Another less pressing one I found is if you open the pause menu on the water planet and then return, your player character, and most of the environment will vanish and remain so until you go to a different planet. Only tested with git 2242 but also happened with opengl/dx hard/soft.
What GSdx settings and PC specs do you have?
Intel 4790k
windows 8.1
nvidia gtx 970

the only HW hack enabled is sprite align.
What are your EE cyclerate and VU cycle stealing value? This usualy happen when the EE is underclock or if the VU cycle stealing value is at 2-3.

Both at 0.
Please play the game until it freezes, then close PCSX2, go to the PCSX2/logs folder, open emulog.txt and post the contents of that file here.

And without using a save state. Disabling the MTVU speedhack will be worth testing as well.
Interestingly enough, it will still happen with MTVU off but seemingly less frequently.
However, I couldn't replicate the issue when playing in 4:3, even with MTVU on.
The attached log is it freezing under widescreen.
