# PCSX2 version: 1.5.0-dev-2334
# Emulation options: Defaults
# Plugins used: GSdx OpenGL Hardware, SPU2-X Defaults (XAudio2, TimeStretch, ...)
# Description: The game would sometimes stop playing all sound effects, only music and voices remain. The issue persists until the end of the level then it goes back to normal. This bug appears to be triggered by certain cutscenes like the one showing CCK in Level 1-2.
Are you running from an ISO or the disk itself? I assume this doesn't occur on the real hardware?

Running from ISO. The dump's fine in case you're wondering, checksum matches the one on redump.org: http://redump.org/disc/4844/
It doesn't occur on the real hardware, no.
OK, any chance the SPU2-X dll from this post fixes the issue?

No dice, it still happens.
I forgot to ask, what SPU2-X settings were you using? Did you also try ASync Mix, None and/or Timestretch?

It might also be worth trying higher/lower values for the DelayCycles variable in your SPU2-X.ini.

As stated in OP, I'm using default SPU2-X settings. Just tried using None, didn't help.

OK, can you try adjusting the DelayCycles variable in your SPU2-X .ini? - a lower value may help. I edited my original response to mention that.
1 year later... Reducing DelayCycles from 4 to 1 indeed fixes this. Interesting, I can think of a few other games where this might help.
