Build 2343 have major changes to wide screen patches files. Maybe try it.

Assuming that you are using US version with 63F6B523 crc. Loading image in 2342 is not thinner because.. Wide screen patch for this game not exist in that release of PCSX2. So you are playing stretched 4:3. Or you are just own not US release, that CRC is unknown (at least in wiki), and i can't check pnach for it.
Looking now on image you posted at first post. I think that you are just play on stretched screen.
