Full Version: different games crashing

PCSX2 seems to crash (not freeze) when there's too many things on the screen.

When I play Neo Contra and use the spread gun, the first level after 20 seconds of playing, there's a pad with a few enemies and everytime I shoot with the spread gun on the few enemies, it seem it is too much for PCSX2 to handle and completely crash. However if I don't play with the spread gun but the machine gun, then it is fine. However, it will crash later on when there is more enemies.

Then, in Guitar Hero 3, if too much frets at the same time, it also crash completely.

I have an i7-3770k, 16 GB of RAM and GeForce GTX 960, more than enough to run.

I haven't found the log file yet.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

I just tried Neo Contra 6 times. It didn't crash but it always freeze at some different points. Doesn't matter fullscreen or not. The audio keeps playing but the game doesn't respond. And there was one time where even PCSX2 didn't respond and I had to kill it. Takes 1 to 3 minutes before it freeze.

One time, there was a window with Assertion failed: Vpu/Vif - Invalid Unpack! [3]

I am using 1.4.0. I see there's 1.5.0 in the link you provided, they are stable enough to be use?

newer builds avoids crashing unlike 0.9.6 most games there are crashing.
Thank you very much, the build v1.5.0-dev-3144-ga3bf46ecd seems to be working perfectly fine. I was able to almost finish Neo Contra, no crash, in fullscreen.

Would be a good idea to release an official 1.5.0 version as the first download on the website. You would have a lot less support to do Smile
It's being stabilized right now as there are bugs to be fixed.

The 1.5.0 builds already are on the website and downloadable at any time. 1.5.0 is the current Development Build series, and they are listed under the Development Builds link. 1.4.0 is the latest Stable build, which is well over 3 years old and pretty much everyone wants it to go away at this point because it is so, so far behind.

Yep, hearsay right now is we are a few PRs away from a feature freeze. From there, some regressions and bugs need cleaned up and a report needs written, but then 1.6.0 will be on the plate. All this said, no dates have been established yet.
