I get the texture flickering too, when walking around the map and also during battles.

CPU: i5 8400
GPU: gtx 1060 3gb
OS: Windows 10 version 1903
RAM: 16gb of generic RAM

Using the latest dev build of PCSX2. Hacks I have enabled:
- Using Round sprite: full to fix the scaling lines in dialog boxes.
- Using Large Frame Buffer option to fix rainbow effects on the waterfalls.
- Using Turn Safe Features Off option to fix the black lines that outline characters.

Currently using DX11 option to run the game at 5x res, though the flickering happens on OpenGL too. I've read all of the previous threads about this before and this has never been resolved since 2010 so I don't have high hopes, but oh well. Might as well make the thread anyway.
Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

can you please post your gsdx settings and detail those "flickering" you get (with a screenshot, maybe)

Sure, here is a video showing the shadow/texture flickering happening in Alexandria town (it isn't always a shadow, sometimes it's part of some other scenery). Go to the 31 second mark to see it explicitly, it's impossible to miss the shadows flickering on the path leading up to the house:

Photo of the pcsx2 settings:

that's very tiny.
do you get the same with native res ?

What is tiny? The game window? The size of the flickering?

The size of the flickering varies depending on where it happens, that spot in Alexandria was simply convenient to easily grab footage of; when it happens in other places it can be bigger, or smaller than what is in the video.

Also, why would the size of the flickering matter? The point is that it flickers.

Anyway, here is footage of it happening in native resolution as well, though admittedly when at native res the problem almost completely goes away. If you weren't looking for it you might not even notice the flickering happening when at native res; the 2nd half of the video I put it back to 5x res and show the flickering happening much more concretely and explicitly, with a bigger "size":

EDIT: Oh, and I'm not overclocked, just in case. I don't have any flickering or anything like that anywhere else, nor in other games on PCSX2.
The FOV on PS2 isn't very good, that's why i was wondering.
don't you get this when you launch the game on your real PS2 ?
I don't have this game, so can't test.
But can you check it out ?
No flickering of any kind when running on a PS2.

Here are threads reporting the texture flickering in DQ8 throughout the years:

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Dragon-Q...FIRST-CAVE

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DQVIII-f...g-textures

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Direct3D9

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Screen-f...like-issue

If you email me your mailing address to a w e i g h @ g m a i l , i can mail you my DQ8 game disc so you can verify it. I never had any high expectation of this thread resulting in a fix for this, by the way, as this has been happening to people playing DQ8 on PCSX2 since 2010 and no thread I could dig up had a fix for it, I only made this thread mainly to remind the team that the issue exists.
Quote:If you email me your mailing address to a w e i g h @ g m a i l , i can mail you my DQ8 game disc so you can verify it.
that would take months to come in my mailbox. not a good idea unless you want to lose your game disc

do you get the same in software mode ?
