Ok so I got gran turismo 4 working and I did a quick lap around laguna seca. I was getting 35-45 FPS but the game felt really choppy. Any setting changes I can make to fix this?

My specs:

AMD Athlon x2 4850e Dual-Core Processor @ 2.75GHz
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4650 512MB @700MHz core and 500MHz mem
2GB RAM @ 800MHz 5-4-4-12 timings

Config:

GSdx 980 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.14
Windowed
Direct3D10 (Hardware)
Bob tff
4:3 Aspect ration
1024x1024 D3D internal res
All other drivers are default

Speed Hacks:

Use x3 Cycle Rate
INTC Sync Hack
Enable IOP x2 Cycle Rate
WaitCycles Sync Hack

Advanced:

Clamp Mode: Extra

All other config options are set to default.
use native res and cycle rate *2. It may help

Alright. I was using 1024x1024 cause I read an article saying that's what I needed if I was going to use DirectX10 with gran turismo. Thanks for the info!
Ok well I changed those two things. Saw no improvement in FPS and the game is still choppy. And, changing to native res made the game look like Gran Turismo 2.

Any more suggestions? =)
After doing those 2 steps, not much really. The Gran Turismo games notoriously known to need a pretty beefy machine. Your CPU is definitely the culprit here.

Thats odd because my cpu only goes up to about 70% usage. I thought that since I put it in Direct3D10 (Hardware) it was mostly relying on the graphics card.

Do you think I could get better performance using Direct3D9?
dont' think so. Dx10 is known to give some improvement in gpu demanding games. As your CPU bottlenecks you here, it won't change anything.
also don't follow the cpu usage that is shown in gsdx, if you want to know the real cpu usage of pcsx2 then go to the task manager Smile
Perhaps with change gsdx plugin to gsdx r.1076 or r.1145? 0.1.15 Can improve fps in your games.

Where can I download that plugin?
